As becoming the first separate African American congregation started by Augustus T. Carr, Bethel AME Church stands as a beacon for hope and equality in the area. With a rich uproot and powerful reminder, today the site is still home to worshippers alike. Bethel AME also serves as a cultural research center and continues its mission for progression.
Benna Venna Plantation
Cultural landscape within the Georgetown area, it is one of the other rice plantations that lead the area in economic growth and expansion. The area also serves as a historical and relevant site for Gullah Geechee culture and language.
Arundel Plantation
In its gothic design and historical relevance in the area, Arundel sits on the Pee Dee River as a solemn reminder of its history. As home to several slaves, and being a leading rice producing area, the site stands as one of the last slave houses of the Arundel Plantation.
Arcadia Plantation Cemetery
Home to a total of three families, Arcadia served as the area’s leading rice producer and biggest rice plantation. Today it is deemed a historical site and can be visited to see the massive and beautiful architecture.
Andrews, South Carolina
Andrews South Carolina has had its phases from farmland to industrialization. Though not completely successful, Andrews serves as a historical town and home to schools and a public library.
