Originally two churches: Holy Cross and Faith Memorial, used by the plantation owners for their enslaved workers to attend. After emancipation, the two congregations came together to form one of the region’s only surviving historic African American Episcopal congregations. Its rich history intertwined with the African American lives affected provides a powerful and welcoming atmosphere to its patrons today. 

Also the site of Miss Ruby’s School, known as Baskervill, and a free medical clinic initiated by Dr. Cathcart Smith.
