West End Heritage Center

Fromerly the Dreamkeepers Center, this community center serves as a hub for the arts and congregation. It is currently operated by the Committee for African American History Observances. The center contains photographs, memorabilia, and videos are stored here where tourists can take in the past and wide range of displays.

Christian Friendly Aid Society Hall

Known also as the Rosemont School, the CFAS was an African American segregated school on the Rosemont Plantation, and was unveiled just recently in honor of the society. In providing a place of community and education for descendants of the slaves to Rosemont, it continues to do so today for visitors and locals alike. 

Choppee High School

 Choppee High School used to be the one of few schooling institutions offered to the area for many years. Within the last decade, CHS has merged with Pleasant Hill High School to offer access to many different counties. With an extensive extracurricular program, the school slowly is growing to offer the best for its 800 students enrolled.

Choppee Community

Getting its name from an Indian tribe, this area is a rural treasure cove of history and tranquility. The surrounding areas are more densely populated making Choppee close knitted.  

Chicora Plantation Cemetery

Serving as a knowledge basin for African American burial practices and history, Chicora Plantation today is used for many reasons. This cemetery along with several others are protected to ensure preservation of those who are buried there but could at some point be uncovered to discover more about African American identities, diet and diseases, all valuable information for researchers and community members alike. 

Cedar Grove Plantation Chapel

 As it served as a ministry to slaves on rice plantations, Cedar Grove Plantation stands today as a reminder of one of the 13 churches to still exist and current house of congregation to many. Visitors may view its Gothic style and beautiful design.
